Lake Louise RCMP investigate serious collision on highway 93

Lake Louise, Alberta –  On Aug. 19, 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Lake Louise RCMP, with assistance of emergency services responded to a serious two motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Highway 93 near Waterfowl Lake.

The northbound motorcycle collided with the car while both were trying to pass another vehicle. The 35-year-old driver of the motorcycle from British Columbia was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The 40-year-old motorcycle passenger from British Columbia suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital.

A 37-year-old driver from Fairbanks, and lone occupant, of the car was treated on scene and released with minor injuries.

Traffic was diverted from the collision scene for a period of time while the RCMP Collision Analyst conducted an investigation. All possible contributing factors for this collision are being investigated and it remains under investigation.

Strathmore RCMP attend scene of fatal motor vehicle collision

Strathmore, Alberta – On Aug. 20, 2016 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Strathmore RCMP members with assistance of fire and emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision at the overpass of Highway 1 and Highway 9 near Langdon.

A truck was travelling westbound on Highway 1 when it left the roadway, collided with a light standard and then entered into a ditch. Highway 1 westbound traffic was reduced to one lane for a short time.

The 67-year-old lone male driver from Strathmore was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name of the deceased will not be released and there will be no further updates.
