Brooks, Alberta – RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigators from Calgary are treating Mohamed Jama ABDI’s (*) (**) disappearance as a homicide. The 44-year-old missing man of Brooks had been reported missing on July 24, 2015 and had not been heard of since July 14, 2015.
Although Mohamed’s remains have yet to be located, a Canada Wide Arrest Warrant for 2nd Degree Murder was issued for Ali Abdullahi AWALE, a 40 year old man from Brooks, Alberta, in relations to this homicide.
It is believed that AWALE left Brooks by bus on July 16, 2015 and boarded a plane from Toronto on July 23, 2015 destined to Somalia.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help for information:
- As to the activities of homicide victim, Mohamed ABDI prior to July 16, 2015;
- As to the activities of wanted person Ali Abdullahi AWALE;
- Any information on the whereabout of Mohamed ABDI’s body.
“I appeal to residents of the Brooks Community for any information in this matter”, says Sergeant Raimo Loo, Brooks RCMP Acting Detachment Commander. “Your assistance could help our investigators to find Mohamed’s body, so it can be returned to his family.”
