Monty with volunteersWood Buffalo RCMP would like to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work and dedication to helping the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games to be a success. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo hosted the event which ran from August 7th– 16th. Wood Buffalo RCMP was visibly seen at every venue to provide security while the games took place. Officers also dressed in red serge to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies at Shell Place.

Wood Buffalo RCMP mascot Monty the safety bear was given the privilege to award the athletes their medals for the swimming event at Macdonald Island. Monty was happy he was able to cheer on the athletes during the swimming finals, and to show the athletes his oversized accreditation badge.

The games were a great way to show off our amazing community and amazing people that call Fort McMurray home. Great job Fort McMurray!
