Okotoks, AB – On Tuesday July 5, 2016 Okotoks RCMP responded to multiple calls of thefts from vehicles in the areas of Stockton Ave. and Milligan Dr. The suspect ruffled through the belongings left inside the unlocked vehicle and stole purses, money and credit cards.
The suspect later attempted to use the stolen credit card to make purchases at the 7-11 store on Milligan Dr. While in the store, suspect stole lottery tickets from behind the counter and left the store. Suspect later attempted to sell some of the stolen purses at a store nearby. A witnesses was able to identify one of the stolen purse which suspect was trying to sell, this resulted in a fight between the suspect and the witness. Suspect then fled on foot and was soon caught by Okotoks RCMP.
No injuries were reported.
Richard Ogilvie of Calgary, AB has been charged with theft, fraud, and breach of probation.
Richard Ogilvie will be appearing in Okotoks Provincial Court on July 29, 2016.
Okotoks RCMP are encouraging Okotoks and surrounding area residents to lock their vehicles upon exiting and to remove items of value from their vehicles. Okotoks RCMP are also encouraging residents to take precautions to ensure their houses and garages are secure before leaving their property.
