Lake Louise, Alberta – On July 7th at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lake Louise RCMP detachment were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle. The collision occurred on Hwy 93, approximately 15 kilometers north of Saskatchewan Crossing. The vehicle involved was a station wagon which had left the highway. It was occupied by a family of three: two adults (male and female) and one child (female).
The adult female was determined to be deceased at the scene and the other two individuals sustained injuries in the collision. They were transported from the scene to hospitals in Banff and Calgary for treatment: one travelled by STARS air ambulance and the second by ground ambulance. The adult male and female child remain in hospital.
The accident scene was discovered on July 7th by a cyclist who was riding his bicycle in the area. Upon discovery of the vehicle, police and emergency services were called.
The Highway 93 is open.
The cause of the accident has not been determined at this time and the matter remains under investigation.
