Lake Louise, Alberta – On July 7th at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lake Louise RCMP detachment were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle.
The collision occurred on Hwy 93, approximately 15 kilometers north of Saskatchewan Crossing. The vehicle involved was a station wagon and was occupied by a family of three: two adults (male and female) and one child (female).
The adult female (age 38 years) was determined to be deceased at the scene. The other two individuals sustained injuries in the collision. They were transported from the scene to hospitals in Banff and Calgary for treatment. The adult male (age 40 years) and female child (age 9 years) remain in hospital.
The family was visiting from India. Family members have been notified and some have arrived in Canada to assist the father and daughter who remain in hospital.
The accident scene was discovered on July 7th by a cyclist who was riding his bicycle in the area. Upon discovery of the vehicle, police and emergency services were called.
The highway is open.
The cause of the accident has not been identified at this time and the matter remains under investigation.
