The Kananaskis RCMP has released the name of the victim of Saturday’s avalanche in the Mount Black Prince area of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country.

On February 14th, 2015, 34 year old Canmore man Benjamin John THACKERAY died as a result of injuries sustained in an avalanche. THACKERAY was an avid skier who worked ski patrol at Nakiska Ski Resort and operated a rafting tour company in the summer months.

THACKERAY and the rest of his group were very experienced in back country skiing and were well equipped to mitigate avalanche risk.
