Red Deer RCMP are investigating a report they received on March 3 of an attempted abduction of a seven year old girl; the unsuccessful abduction attempt occurred on March 2 in the Kentwood neighbourhood.
Between 3 and 3:30 pm on March 2, a seven year old girl was walking north on Keast Way, directly across from the church at 8 Keast Way; an unknown male, who was standing outside his vehicle, asked her where she lived and then asked her get into his vehicle so he could drive her home. The suspect did not touch the girl or attempt to physically coerce her into the vehicle. She screamed and ran away, at which point the man got into his vehicle and left the area, driving north on Keast Way.
The suspect is described as:
- Darker complexion
- Average to slim build
- 20 – 30 years old
- Less than 6’0″ tall
- Short brown hair, shaved on one side and combed over from right to left
- Wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, under a black leather jacket, and blue jeans
- Spoke with an accent
The suspect vehicle is described as a newer, white, compact four-door car with silver trim on the headlights and grill.
RCMP continue to investigate and conduct neighbourhood enquires, and are working with the victim to develop a composite sketch of the suspect, which will be released as soon as it is completed.
