This year High River Emergency Services, along with Victim Services, will hold the second annual Charity Check Stop. On December 3, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm members will be conducting a “check stop” on Center Street to accept donations. This year we have chosen the Rowan House (an emergency shelter) and the High River Food Bank to be the recipients of the donations. The Rowan House and the Food Bank provide a vital service to those less fortunate in our community and help brighten many people’s lives. We in Emergency Services and Victim Services typically only get to deal with people when there is a negative event, but the Charity Check stop allows us to have a positive interaction with many people and also help many people.
These donations will be used for the sole purpose and benefit of the residents of High River and surrounding community. No donations will be awarded to anyone other than the Rowan House or Food Bank. Our goal is to raise awareness and donations for those in need during this holiday season.
The High River RCMP is also challenging the Okotoks Detachment to a friendly competition over this event.
