Evansburg, Alta. – Roze Burke, a 68-year-old woman reported missing from Red Deer County on March 13, 2015, has been located deceased. Burk’s vehicle was spotted by RCMP during an air search conducted on Friday, March 27, 2015. The air services officers had been working on a separate operation, when they spotted Burk’s vehicle in a remote area, approximately 35 Kms south of Evansburg. In searching for Roze Burke the RCMP mobilized extensive search operations including RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, and Red Deer County Civilian Search and Rescue. RCMP also utilitzed Civil Air Search and Rescue Association in the search for Burke. In addition, concerned family members organized 50 to 60 persons to conduct searches within the city of Red Deer. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, investigators and family were unsuccessful in locating Ms. Burke.
RCMP believe Burke’s vehicle became stuck and she left the vehicle to seek help. This area where she became stuck is not frequented by travellers. RCMP were able to recover her vehicle as well as her small dog who has been reunited with the Burke family.
The RCMP’s investigation into this matter is ongoing awaiting autopsy results from medical examiners office. The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance during this investigation.
