RCMP Cochrane – UPDATE-Serious Motor Vehicle Collision Highway 1


Cochrane RCMP are currently on the scene of a two vehicle serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 1, 1 km west of Range Road 33.  A pick up truck was west bound on Highway 1, when it ran into the back of a car that was parked on the side of the road. The male driver of the car was taken to the foothills hospital in life threatening condition. The male driver for the truck was examined at scene and female passenger of the pick up was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. One lane of Highway 1 , west bound, will be closed while RCMP investigate the incident.

UPDATE:

Highway 1, is fully open in both directions as of 1:00 PM . During the investigation it has been discovered that the car, that was hit, was stolen out of Calgary.  The male driver is still in the Foothills Hospital in serious condition. The male’s identity is unknown at this time as he did not have any identification on him.   Investigations continue into the cause of the collision and now a separate investigation into the Stolen vehicle. The RCMP collision analysis is assisting with the Collision and the Cochrane RCMP General Investigation Section is assisting with the stolen Vehicle Investigation.
