On the 3rd of August 2014 at approximately 8:30 PM, Cochrane RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle Collision, involving a pickup truck and motorcycle, on Highway 1a, 25 km west of Cochrane. Early indications show that the motorcycle crossed the centre line and hit the truck. The driver and passenger were thrown from the bike and were airlifted to Foothills Hospital in serious, possible life threatening condition. Highway 1A is currently closed in both directions, while the RCMP collision analyst, and members of the Criminal Collision Investigative Team investigates. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously hurt and was released on scene.
