RCMP Cochrane – Serious Collision Highway 1 – Update


 

Cochrane, Alberta – East bound lanes of Highway 1 re-opened to normal traffic flow last night. An elderly adult male was also a passenger of the van and he suffered minor injuries. There are no further updates as to the condition of the other occupants of the mini van or semi at this time. The RCMP would like to thank the motoring public for their patience while traffic flow was disrupted during this investigation.

Highway 1 Collision Results in Fatality – Update #1

Cochrane, Alberta – An 86 year-old female from Calgary, a passenger of the mini van has died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the mini van, a 48 year-old female sustained minor injuries. A 14 year-old male passenger was seriously injured and an 11 year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries, both were transported to hospital with their current medical status being unknown at this time. The driver of the semi, a 44 year-old male from Grande Prairie and a 37 year-old male co-driver from Delta, BC, suffered minor injuries and were both transported to hospital for further examination. East bound traffic is currently closed for another 3 to 4 hours, as the collision analyst investigates. East bound traffic is being diverted from Highway 1 to Morley Road, then onto Highway 1A. Even though traffic is being re-routed, traffic is backed up significantly. East bound motorised are advised to take an alternate route if possible.
