On July 13th, 2014 at approx 1630 hrs. Canmore RCMP received a complaint of a missing swimmer in the Bow River east of the Sebee Dam. Police investigation determined the incident occurred in the Cochrane Detachment area who have taken over the investigation. Three males ages 26, 22 and 17 all of Calgary, Alberta had all agreed to swim across the dam to an area where they could cliff jump into the Bow River. The males entered the water and began to experience difficulty and in distress, all three went under the water. The 17 yr old male managed to return to shore while the other two remained in the water. The 22 yr old surfaced and was removed from the water. He was unresponsive and transported by air Ambulance to hospital where he later succumbed to his injury. The third male, a 26 yr old male a resident of Calgary remains missing. Police and other resources continue to search the area. Cochrane Victim Services continues to provide ongoing support to all families.
