RCMP Cochrane – Fatal Train/Pedestrian Collision


July 16, 2015, at approximately 1750 hrs, Cochrane RCMP members responded to a fatal train/pedestrian collision behind the Detachment.  After hearing the train sound its horn for an extended period of time, RCMP members went outside to determine what had occurred.  Members immediately determined that a pedestrian had been struck by an eastbound train on the tracks directly behind the RCMP Detachment.
A young female was walking alone on the tracks when the collision occurred.  Cochrane Fire and EMS were dispatched, attended and the female was declared deceased on scene.
Traffic within the Town of Cochrane was disrupted for approximately 2 hours for the investigation.
The matter is still under investigation and the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
