On October 21st, 2015 at approximately 01:30 hrs, the Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle in the Fireside Subdivision in Cochrane, Alberta. RCMP members made immediate patrols to the area and located a suspicious adult male who claimed to be walking to a friends house. While being questioned by an RCMP officer, the male fled on foot and is believed to have gotten into a different stolen vehicle that had been brought to the scene. That vehicle attempted to flee the subdivision at a high rate of speed and was spike belted by RCMP. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Highway 22 and the driver and a passenger fled the scene. RCMP arrested the male a short distance away. Attempts are still being made to identify the passenger and one other suspect believed to have been involved in thefts from Fireside and Bowridge areas of Cochrane. Two stolen vehicles and some articles of stolen property were recovered. Justin Michael WARD (19) of Calgary is facing charges of Theft of motor vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property x2, Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle, Failing to Comply with Conditions of release x4, Driving an uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving without a licence. WARD has been held in Custody his next Court appearance is on November 10th 2015 in Cochrane. Despite Cochrane RCMP recent successes in solving several car and home break in’s it is asked that residents secure their cars and homes at all times.
