RCMP Cochrane – Armed Robbery


On December 17th, 2014 at approximately 6:30 pm, a male hired a cab from Calgary to the Stoney First Nation. The male, who was under the influence of an intoxicating substance arrived at his destination on the Nation and informed the driver he would return from the residence and pay the fare. When the male returned, he brandished a knife and demanded money from the cab driver. When the cab driver presented a small amount of cash, the male still brandishing the knife began to threaten and chase the cab driver around the vehicle. The male then entered the drivers side of the cab and drove away in an erratic manner leaving the cab driver in the cold. Cochrane RCMP responded immediately. With the assistance of the public, the cab and male were located in the driveway of a residence on the Stoney First Nation . The male was arrested without incident and taken into Police custody. The victim was visibly shaken from this ordeal and received assistance from Cochrane and Area Victim Services. Charges are pending for Robbery, Impaired Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle and 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance on a 36 year old male from Morley AB.
