image1_4Coaldale, AB – On July 19, 2016 just before 5:00 p.m. the Coaldale RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter into a residence within the Town of Coaldale. The break and enter was thought to have just occurred within the past few hours.  A number of items were taken including a rifle, a significant amount of cash, personal property and a red 1976 Chevy Corvette.  A witness told police a man was noticed to have just loaded the Corvette on a u-haul trailer and pull it away operating a grey Dodge truck.
Coaldale RCMP members attended the scene and upon gathering the information on a suspect vehicle/u-haul trailer hauling a red Corvette fanned out the information to the surrounding RCMP Detachments and the Lethbridge Police Service.
At around 6:00 p.m. a member of the Coaldale RCMP noted a grey truck pulling a u-haul trailer with a red corvette westbound on Highway 3. RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 3 at Scenic Drive and confirmed this was the stolen red Corvette from the Coaldale break and enter.  The male driver and sole occupant of the grey Dodge truck was arrested for numerous property offences. Incidental to arrest a large amount of additional stolen property was recovered including the missing rifle.
The suspect, a 46 year old male from Calgary, will be further investigated to determine if he can be linked to other area property crimes.  Criminal charges including break enter and theft are pending.  At the time of this media release the suspect remains in custody.
