Canmore RCMP are investigating a serious Motor Vehicle Collision which occurred on August 28th, 2015 in the Canmore area of Highway 742. Canmore RCMP were assisted by Canmore EMS, Canmore FIRE and Alberta Parks Conservation Officers.
On August 28, 2015 at approximately 1:30 pm, a medium Blue 2013 Ford F150 traveling Southbound on Highway 742 in the Spray Lakes area of rural Canmore collided head on with a Northbound gravel truck. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
At the time of the collision, there were three occupants in the Ford F150. The 48 year old male driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Two children, ages 4 and 6, were transported to Alberta Children’s Hospital via Ground Ambulance as a precautionary measure. All occupants were restrained.
The 60 year old driver and lone occupant of the Gravel Truck was assessed at the scene by EMS and released.
All persons involved in the collision were restrained at the time.
The gravel highway was notably dry and windy at the time of the collision, leading to poor visibility. Canmore RCMP continue to investigate.
