On Sunday July 24, 2016 at approximately 2:30 pm, Canmore RCMP were called to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 1A near the Yamnuska Day Use area.
A motorcycle travelling Westbound crossed the centre line and collided with a passenger vehicle. The motorcycle driver, A 57 year old man from Calgary, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the involved vehicle were transported to hospital by EMS as a precaution, but were not injured. Highway 1A was closed for the investigation.
RCMP are continuing the investigation into the collision, in conjunction with RCMP collision reconstruction. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time.
The name of the deceased is not being released by Police.
