RCMP Canmore Investigates Assault on a Child


 

On August 6, 2015 at approximately 4:15 pm, a 10 year old girl was approached by an adult male outside her residence in Canmore. The male told the girl that his cat had kittens nearby, and asked the girl if she would like to see them. Once away from the residential area in the trees, the male grabbed the girl around the waist and put his other hand over her mouth. The girl struggled, and was able to get away immediately. The suspect is described as:

–       Caucasian male

–       18-20 years of age

–       5’10” to 6’2” tall, very slim

–       Short medium brown hair

–       Seen riding an orange mountain bike

Police attended the location immediately, but a search of the area was negative for the suspect. RCMP Police Dog Services also attended to assist in the search, but was unsuccessful.
