RCMP Canmore Investigates Assault on a Child – Arrest Made, Charges Laid


 

On August 6, 2015 at approximately 4:15 pm, a 10 year old girl was approached by an adult male outside her residence in Canmore. The male told the girl that his cat had kittens nearby, and asked the girl if she would like to see them. Once away from the residential area in the trees, the male grabbed the girl around the waist and put his other hand over her mouth. The girl struggled, and was able to get away immediately.

On August 25, a suspect was identified and arrested in relation to this incident.

20 year old Benjamin Dennis Danby of Canmore has been charged with the following:

One count of Forcible Confinement Section 279(2) of the Criminal Code,  one count of Assault Section 266 of the Criminal Code, and one count of Voyeurism Section 162(1)(c) of the Criminal code. The charge of voyeurism is related to evidence found during the investigation involving unrelated photographs of adult females.

Danby will appear in Provincial Court in Canmore on August 26 to answer to the charges.
