RCMP – Canmore Explosion – Update #1

Update

Canmore RCMP are reporting approximately 40 people experienced minor injuries such as cuts and scrapes from flying glass and debris. Due to the utilities being suspended to the area, over 400 people are displaced from their homes at this time.

Victim services is working with those affected.

House explosion in Canmore Residential Neighborhood

Canmore, Alberta – On June 26, 2015 at approximately 5:00 pm, Canmore RCMP officers and other emergency services were called to the report of an explosion. Numerous houses in the area were damaged as a result of the blast, one more severely than the others. The house where the explosion originated was empty at the time. Some minor injuries were reported from people in the neighborhood.

Utility workers were working in the area this date and all utility workers are accounted for.

The matter remains under investigation and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
