RCMP Bashaw – Plane Crash


On February 1st, 2015 at 11:30 am Bashaw RCMP responded to a aircraft collision that occurred about 10 km Northwest of Bashaw, AB. Two single engine home built kit aircrafts were travelling parallel from Carstairs, AB to Red Deer Lake northwest of Bashaw, AB, when the two aircrafts collided mid air. One of the aircrafts crashed in a field off of Twp Road 424 and Range Road 221, and the other landed safely. A 47 year old male was transported by STARS to the U of A Hospital, Edmonton, AB, with a severe leg injury. The other pilot suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Transport Canada is taking over the investigation.
