RCMP Arrest Suspect In Hit and Run Collision


Nanton, AB: Nanton RCMP are investigating a complaint of a hit and run after a suspect vehicle collided with a northbound truck north of Nanton, Alberta, on Highway 2.

On October 6, 2014 at approximately 3:20 p.m. RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver northbound on Highway 2. RCMP located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the erratic driver. The driver did not stop and fled from police.

It is believed that a short time later the suspect vehicle collided with a truck and located a short time later in a ditch near Cayley, Alberta. The lone male driver was arrested without incident. No one was injured in the collision.

The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending. However, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident. An adult male from Calgary is facing a number of charges including impaired driving, drive with a blood alcohol concentration over .08, dangerous driving, criminal hit and run and flight from police.
