Cochrane RCMP Suspicious vehicle leads to drug seizure
Cochrane, Alberta – On August 14th 2016 at approximately 4 AM a member of the Cochrane RCMP was patrolling Springbank area when they noticed a vehicle at the Springbank Elementary School. Given the time of year as well as the time of day, the member felt this was suspicious and investigated.
There were two males in their mid-twenties who were from the area in the vehicle and upon speaking to them the member saw a bag with a small amount of marijuana in it. Both males were arrested and the member started to investigate. A bong was located along with a very small amount of marijuana. The member seized the drug and paraphernalia and released the males with no charges.

Cochrane RCMP Stolen Powerboat and Trailer
Cochrane, Alberta – On August 13th, 2016, the Cochrane RCMP received a complaint of a stolen powerboat from Ghost Lake Recreations.
The black and green Mastercraft X2 powerboat, Alberta License AB3420024, was stored on July 24th on a trailer which was also stolen. The owner realized it was stolen on August 13th when they went to use it, but through inquiries found that the last time it was seen was before July 31st.
The trailer the powerboat was on is a 2012 Mastercraft Tandem Axle with Alberta License plate 4RY242 and is black in colour.

RCMP Vulcan Fatal Motorcycle Collision
RCMP Westlock Skydiving Accident
Westlock, AB – On August 13, 2016, at approximately 2:00 pm the RCMP responded to the Edmonton Skydiving Centre located at the Westlock Airport for a skydiving accident. The incident occurred during a skydiving competition when a skydiver performing a high performance technique was unable to land properly. Emergency personnel were immediately available at the scene, however the 52 year old Edmonton skydiver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The matter is currently under investigation by the police and next of kin have been notified. The deceased’s name will not be released at this time.
RCMP Claresholm Theft of Equestrian Equipment
On August 1st 2016, a horse trailer located at the Agriplex was entered by unknown subjects.
There was numerous equestrian tack supplies stolen, including the pictured saddle.
Itemized list of stolen equipment :
- 3 x 100% Wool blankets
- 2 x Sherling natural cinches
- 1 x leather breast collar
- 1 x ear bridle with reins and correction bit attached
- Horse cleaning supplies
- grooming box (brush, mane brush, body brush, hoof pick)
- Red Double D nylon horse sheet
- 1 texaline fly sheet
- 1 green rain sheet
- 2 fly masks
- Container with a black top and tan bottom ( contained: oilskin short coat, yellow slicker, 2 new
rope halters with quick close)
Saddle is a Bob’s Latimer Reining Saddle (pictured here). Unique features include:
- Medium oil colour with a rough out seat
- Basket weave on fenders and skirts.
- Long strips for tying saddle bags
- Soft leather back cinch
- Alpaca cinch with two shoo flys dangling form cinch. One dark and one light coloured
- Heavy metal stirrups with angle
