RCMP Cochrane – Stoney Nation man dies as a result of collision with vehicle on Highway # 1.

Cochrane – At approx. 6: 00am  on December 13, 2014 a 35 year old male pedestrian was hit by a passing motorist on Highway # 1 approx 1 km west of Highway # 22 south of Cochrane, Alberta.   The man, who’s identity is being withheld at the request of the family was walking west in the westbound lane of Highway # 1 when he was struck by a passing motorist.   The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.   The operator of the motor vehicle was shaken,  but not injured.  Weather at the time was heavy snow and roads were wet.  Alcohol or speed is not considered to be a contributing factor.

Today seems like a good time to remind all motorists to be careful when you are out on the roads this winter.  Arriving to your destination a few minutes later is better than not arriving at all.  Motorists owe it to themselves, their families  and their friends.   The RCMP remind drivers to drive according to the road conditions, and to be especially mindful your speed and be vigilant of yours and others personal safety this holiday season.
