RCMP Airdrie – Youth on Bicycle Struck by Car

 

RCMP - CrestAirdrie, Alberta – On April 24th, 2015 at 8:30 a.m., Airdrie RCMP, Airdrie Fire Service and Provincial Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a 16 year old male cyclist struck by a vehicle on Edmonton Trail at Centre Ave in Airdrie.

A 56 year old female driver from Carstairs, Alberta failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the youth who was riding on the sidewalk and did not dismount his bicycle while crossing the road.

The youth received serious but non-life threatening injuries. The female driver was issued a provincial violation ticket for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign.

The Airdrie RCMP wishes to remind motorists to obey all traffic signs and legislation. The RCMP would also like to remind cyclists to dismount when using crosswalks.
