Rain, at times heavy, is expected.
A low pressure system moving through Montana today is producing rain, at times heavy. Generally, amounts of 20 to 50 mm are expected. Heavy rainfall will end this evening as the low continues eastward.
Higher elevations including sections of Highway 22 in the Claresholm region are seeing precipitation fall as wet snow. A few centimetres of snow are possible before precipitation changes back to rain by this afternoon.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind and lightning will make outdoor activities unsafe.
Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-239-0484 or send an email to storm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ABStorm.
