Property Crimes Task Force and Calgary Police Service seize guns and drugs in joint trafficking investigation

January 15, 2016 – A joint investigation between the Priority Crimes Task Force and Calgary Police Service (CPS) has put a significant dent in an organized crime trafficking operation after search warrants in Red Deer and Calgary yielded 9 guns, 12,159 rounds of ammunition, $14,400 cash and almost 400 grams of drugs.

During the course of the investigation, the suspects were active in drug trafficking and violent crimes in the Red Deer area and were eventually arrested in a high-risk takedown in Calgary as they fled an attempted pawn shop robbery in a stolen vehicle. This organized crime group was active across Alberta and had ties to BC.

Three people have been arrested to date and the investigation is ongoing. More charges may be laid in the coming weeks.

More details will be provided Monday.
