Princess Patricia’s centennial memorial relay to visit 24 locations across five provinces – Canadian Army Soldiers running relay from Edmonton to Ottawa

Ottawa, ON – On August 10, a Memorial Baton Relay (MBR) will kick-off in Edmonton, Alberta, as the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) mark 100 years of service. Approximately 50 soldiers from the regiment’s 2nd Battalion (2 PPCLI) will run through select cities and towns across five provinces, retracing the symbolic route taken by the PPCLI Originals as they marshalled for service in 1914 on the eve of the First World War. The relay is being run to Ottawa where it will arrive on September 18.

Quick Facts

  • To mark their 100th Anniversary on August 10, 2014, PPCLI MBR soldiers will be carrying a Memorial Baton containing the names of 1,866 PPCLI members who have fallen in active service to Canada over the last century.
