Parks Canada invites visitors to the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site for Canada’s Parks Day
The Bar U Ranch offers a chance to explore a unique part of Canada’s ranch history. There are many Parks Day activities planned, including a fancy shooting display by the “Guns of the Golden West”, Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until noon. The Strathcona Mounted Troop will not be attending the celebration as planned, however, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be on site from noon until 5:00 p.m. with telescopes for safe solar viewing. They will also provide a presentation in the Bar U Ranch Visitor Center Theatre starting at 12:30 p.m.
Additional activities include two, 45-minute presentations by Rob Lennard, “the History Wrangler”, at 1:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Don’t forget to view our new “Hometown Heroes” display honouring six foothills cowboys who served during World War 1.
This is a great way to celebrate Canada’s Parks Day and discover more about the importance of ranching to the development of Canada.
Canada’s national parks and historic sites enable visitors to experience Canada’s remarkable natural heritage and rich history in a special way and will play a big part in the celebration of Canada 150 – just one year away!
