Oyen RCMP: Cereal , Alberta – Animal Abuse Investigation

On September 3, 2015 the Oyen RCMP Detachment arrested a mother and daughter for failing to comply with release conditions on Animal Cruelty Charges from British Columbia.  The mother and daughter were located at a rural residence south of Cereal, AB.

During the investigation Oyen RCMP Members discovered several animals that were being neglected and a new investigation into animal cruelty was initiated.  Oyen RCMP executed a search warrant at the rural property and located 11 horses, 25 dogs and 17 birds that were in distress.   With the assistance of the Alberta SPCA, all animals were seized and relocated.  All animals were also seen by a vet and any immediate medical needs were addressed.

The mother and daughter have both been charged with Failing to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking, Cruelty to Animals, Wilful Neglect of Animals and Possession of Stolen Property.

The mother and daughter are scheduled to appear in Hanna Provincial Court on October 28, 2015 for their first appearance.

Although there have been several Facebook and Kijiji posts relating to this event the Oyen RCMP are NOT seeking any further assistance from the public in locating owners of the animals.
