High River, AB: Approximately 20 per cent (1,000) of customers were affected by an error that occurred with the July/August Town utility bills. The Town has now corrected the computer system error and the affected bills have been cancelled and will be re-issued the week of October 5.
The error occurred with the calculation of water and waste water charges in relation to the transition to new automated water meters that are being installed in High River.
The Town will be sending new bills to notify only those property owners who have a corrected billing amount. All other billings will remain the same and all customers will have until October 31 to pay their utility bills. Corrected auto payments will also be withdrawn on October 31.
No penalties will be issued to customers who have already paid their bill and have a balance remaining and customers will receive a credit on their account for any overpayments.
Customers who are not in the affected 20 per cent and have discarded their original bill are encouraged to email email@example.com if they need to inquire about their balance or require a copy of their original bill. Residents are also strongly encouraged to sign up and view their bill through www.highriver.ca using the eServices feature found under the ‘Residents’ menu.
The Town would also like to remind customers that they can also sign up to receive their utility and tax bills via email by completing and returning the registration form that can be accessed at www.highriver.ca under the ‘Residents’ menu by selecting the ‘Water & Utility Services’ OR ‘Tax & Assessment’ tabs.
