Okotoks Wins Southwest Alberta Tourism Award for Municipality of the Year


Okotoks wins municipality awardThe Town of Okotoks is honoured to have received the 2015 Southwest Alberta Service & Tourism award for “Municipality of the Year”  presented by the Chinook Country Tourist Association at the ceremony held October 7, 2015 at the Yates Centre in Lethbridge.  The award is presented to a municipality that works together to develop, build, promote and enhance tourism in southwest Alberta.

“On behalf of Okotoks Council and Administration, We are thrilled and extremely proud to have received this recognition” said Town of Okotoks Mayor, Bill Robertson. “I congratulate and thank our Economic Development Team for all of their efforts in making this a reality and for continually advocating and strengthening our remarkable community.”

The Southwest Alberta Service & Tourism awards are designed to pay tribute to those in the service and tourism industry who excel in promoting Southwest Alberta as a destination. This year’s awards had nineteen different categories with over 200 nominations received.

“Our successful events, support and collaborative effort with the region, training opportunities, and excellent marketing initiatives, in particular promoting Southwest Alberta as a destination, has earned us this award. It is testament to the services the Town of Okotoks provides to our tourism partners and the tourism industry.  We are thrilled to be recognized with this award, said Alexandra Ross, Okotoks Economic Development Specialist.  “We would like to sincerely thank the Chinook Country Tourist Association and the Southwest Alberta Service & Tourism Awards committee for this great honour as well as everyone who nominated us.

The Southwest Alberta Service & Tourism awards are an annual event organized by the Chinook Country Tourist Association.
