Okotoks RCMP – Missing person – Update

***UPDATE***
Approximately 2:00PM, Sunday, April 10, 2016 Turner Valley RCMP were alerted that family had located the vehicle of Mr. HANDEL a short ways down a gated lane way on Highway 546, west of Turner Valley.  Police and Police Dog Services attended and conducted a search of the area, locating Mr. HANDEL, deceased approximately 600 meters uphill from the vehicle.  The body was recovered by RCMP, Alberta Conservation Officers and Foothills Search and Rescue workers.  It has been transported to the Office of the Calgary Medical examiner for further examination.  Next of Kin have been notified and foul play is not suspected at this time.
RCMP respectfully request privacy for the family and express thanks to searchers including concerned family and friends, Alberta Conservation, Foothills Search and Rescue, RCMP air services, police dog services and regular members that were supplied during this matter.

Request for Assistance to Locate Missing Male
Okotoks, Alberta On April 8, 2016 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Okotoks RCMP were notified that Blair Handel, aged 51, left his house at approximately 3:15 p.m. Blair has not been heard from since.
Blair is believed to have gone to one of the mountain areas near Turner Valley and Kananaskis but may have gone as far south as the Crowsnest Pass area.
He did not have camping equipment or supplies for overnight.
Blair is approximately 5’6″ tall, 155 pounds with short brown-gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing jeans and a jean jacket. Blair is missing one of his middle fingers.
Blair left his home in a silver 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with an Alberta license plate, BHS 1822.
Okotoks RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance to help locate Blair Handel. Anyone with information on Blair’s location or who has seen him or his vehicle is asked to contact the Okotoks RCMP at 403-938-4202 or their local police service.
