Okotoks RCMP Attend Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision


 

Okotoks, AB – On Friday October 23, 2015 at approximately 10:45 a.m., the Okotoks RCMP responded to the report of a head on motor vehicle collision on Highway 2A, north of Aldersyde, Alberta.  The collision occurred between a northbound black Ford Edge and a south bound silver Honda Civic.  Investigation thus far suggests that the Honda Civic swerved and crossed into the north bound lane where it collided with the Ford Edge.  The reason for this apparent action of the Civic remains under investigation.

The sole occupant of the Ford Edge, a 40 year old female was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  There were three occupants in the Honda Civic.  A 45 year old male driver and 49 year old male passenger have been taken to hospital with serious injuries but the extent of their injuries is not known by police at this time. Also travelling in the Civic was a 52 year old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The family of the deceased has been advised; the RCMP will not be releasing the deceased’s name.

Road conditions and weather were good at the time. The accident remains under investigation by the RCMP.

The highway remains closed and motorists are encourage to avoid travel near this location and to find alternate routes for the time being.  The RCMP will advise when the road closure is over.
