Okotoks Legion Application Proceeding

We received this update from Malcolm Hughes on the process for setting up a Royal Canadian Legion in Okotoks:

“I attended the Alberta/NWT Command Council Meeting last Friday and Saturday and presented the situation regarding the proposed Legion in Okotoks.

Following a short question and answer session, the council members voted unanimously to proceed with the application for a charter and it will now move on to Ottawa to our Dominion Council for review and (hopefully) approval. The vote confirmed that we have the total support of command council as well as staff in moving the proposal along.

There was genuine excitement at the prospect of a new branch in our command, particularly in a town that is not only central to the Region’s economy but one which continues to grow. Among those contributing to that growth there is a significant Veteran population which we are committed to serve.

At this time, we have no time line for the decision in Ottawa but we are thankful to our Command for this support.”

Thank you to Malcolm for his dedication to this and we hope he is successful!
