Okotoks Conservation Educators

OK Conservation Educators 2016Between the months of May to September, the Town of Okotoks embarks on a campaign of conservation awareness in our community. Five Conservation Educators visit approximately 2,000 households and 200 businesses educating the community on water and energy conservation and waste management.

The Educators also attend all summer community events and provide conservation presentations to children at schools and summer day camps. The team works closely with several Town Business Centres, including Parks, Resource Recovery and Community Programs as well as EPCOR Water Services to coordinate water, waste and energy education initiatives.

During the household visits, the Conservation Educators engage residents in conversations about increasing waste diversion from landfill and how to reduce household water and energy consumption. Residents are reminded of the outdoor watering schedule and hours. The Town’s Blue Cart Recycling program, Cut n Call Yard Waste Program and the Residential Water Conservation Rebate Program are promoted during their household visits. Visits are conducted Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.

Look for the 2016 Conservation Educators in your neighbourhood and throughout the community this coming spring/summer or contact them at consed@okotoks.ca  or by calling 403-995-2798.
