Okotoks Applying to Province for Pipeline Grant

The Town of Okotoks has applied to the provincial government in an effort to cover 90% of the cost for a new pipeline from the City of Calgary.

If successful, the province’s Water for Life program would put forth approximately $36-million of the estimated $40-million bill.

The Calgary Regional Partnership has endorsed the proposal. Mayor Bill Robertson was pleased with the endorsement stating “it shows we are doing things properly in Okotoks.”

As the cost of the pipeline would be prohibitive for the Town to carry on its own, various provincial ministries have encouraged Okotoks to submit an application with an aim to get the 90% funding.

Town council was in total support of the application to the government approving the forthcoming application process unanimously.
