SUNDRE, AB (October 16, 2015): Today, Wildrose Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House MLA Jason Nixon released the following statement regarding the loss of three young girls near Withrow, Alberta:
“This has been an incredibly trying week for the community of Withrow. As a father, there are no words I can say to comfort the Bott family and the incredible loss they have suffered with the passing of Catie, Dara, and Jana. I have visited Withrow, and have been heartened by the overwhelming outpouring of support the family is receiving.
“This is not the time for political posturing or scoring political points. Out of respect for the Bott family and community, I have chosen to focus on remembering the lives of those taken far too soon, and to support a community that is grieving. Unfortunately, some have made this an opportunity to attack family farming. This tragic accident was just that – an accident, and legislation could not have prevented it.
“I ask that people respect the wishes of the family, stop their politicking during this period of grieving, and focus on supporting this family and the community during this horrific time.”
