The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) and the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) are pleased to announce they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), designed to support and enhance the stewardship and conservation practices, as well as public outreach and educational programming of both organizations.
According to NPC Chair Janice Thomson, “This MOU will be the first of its kind for NPC and will build on a foundation of years of horticulture excellence and research performed by NPC’s School of Horticulture and Botanical Gardens. I want to thank Wade Luzny of the Canadian Wildlife Federation for his support and recognition of the important work performed by Niagara Parks, as we move forward together, in conserving and protecting our most precious wildlife and habitat, here in Niagara and throughout the country.”
“The Canadian Wildlife Federation’s partnership with The Niagara Parks Commission builds on the strengths of both of our organizations, allowing us to use our combined expertise to develop programs to enhance visitor knowledge regarding the importance of wildlife in our lives. It is only by engaging people in wildlife experiences that we will foster an appreciation of the need to conserve our natural world and foster a new generation of wildlife stewards. Through this collaboration, CWF and NPC will be creating experiences for people of all ages that are memorable, educational, enjoyable and sustainable,” says Wade Luzny, CWF CEO and Executive Vice-President.
The intent of this new MOU, entered into on October 17, 2014, will be to develop cooperative efforts based on the expertise of both organizations in the areas of environmental stewardship, urban conservation and wildlife education. It is the hope of both parties that the new MOU will also promote the sharing of educational, horticultural and scientific expertise, to support the mandates and efforts of both organizations.
