HIGH RIVER, AB: A new television series called ‘Tin Star’ produced by Kudos Film and Television will begin shooting in High River in June. The series was created by acclaimed British director and screenwriter Rowan Joffe.
“High River often provides film companies with a very attractive location for filming; we have the perfect setting surrounded by spectacular foothills and mountain scenery,” says Jodi Dawson, manager of economic development with the Town. “We look forward to working closely with the production company to notify the public about upcoming filming dates in town.”
Tin Star is described as ‘an epic tale of deception, betrayal, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of remote and beautiful Canadian mountain town.’ The series will star Tim Roth; who is known for his roles in ‘The Hateful Eight,’ ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and Christina Hendricks; known for her roles in ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Drive.’
The High River filming location for the first season of this series and will be inside the old Vespucci’s building at 111 – 3 Avenue S.W. This location will be used for a variety of sets in the show and filming will begin in mid-June and run through until the end of November, 2016.
As most filming will be indoors it is anticipated that there will be minimal disruptions to businesses and residents. Local residents and home owners have also been approached about the possibility of their homes being used in this production.
“We love to shop local,” says Nolan. “We are very excited to show High River off to the world and look forward to filming in town this year.”
Production crews expect that half of their production schedule will be filming in High River and the other half spent in the Foothills Area, Kananaskis Country, Stoney Nation and Waterton Lakes National Park.
