Industrial businesses, including small-to-medium sized oil and gas industries, are now eligible to receive rebates for switching to energy-efficient products.
Alberta businesses are saving energy and money through Energy Efficiency Alberta’s Business Non-Profit and Institutional (BNI) Energy Savings Program. To support more businesses, industrial-specific rebates have been added for products such as pump-off controllers for pump jacks, compressed air leak detection and repair, process exhaust filtration, and more.
“Alberta’s industrial operators create jobs and drive our economy. By encouraging operators to replace old equipment with new energy-efficient products, we are helping Alberta businesses lower their energy bills, reduce their emissions and reinvest in their business. Together, we are supporting a growing energy-efficiency sector that creates jobs and helps businesses thrive.”
~Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks and Minister responsible for the Climate Change Office
The program helps organizations reduce their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by replacing outdated and inefficient equipment with new energy-efficient technologies. Most industrial facilities that are not large final emitters qualify for the program.
“Alberta manufacturers are committed to improving energy efficiency and competing for customers around the world. The expanded energy efficiency program will return some carbon levy dollars to manufacturers to help them invest in equipment and technology that will reduce emissions and improve productivity.”
~David MacLean, vice-president, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters
As of December 2017, more than 1,200 organizations have participated in the BNI program, receiving a total of $3.5 million in rebates or an average of $2,600 per project.
“The Business, Non-Profit and Institutional rebate program has had outstanding program participation so far. Expanded funding, additional rebates, and improvements to our processes, as well as the addition of products specific for the industrial industry builds upon our shared success to date.”
~Monica Curtis, CEO, Energy Efficiency Alberta
