NDP Should Release Kaminski Resignation Letter in Full: Wildrose

EDMONTON, AB: After receiving a heavily redacted version of former Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) CEO Vickie Kaminski’s resignation letter, Wildrose is calling on the NDP government to release the full version to Albertans.

A CBC exclusive report revealed several allegations of political interference in Alberta’s health care system that is, “rooted in an ideology of the new government.”

Despite Health Minister Sarah Hoffman claiming she had never seen Kaminski’s letter until the CBC interview, the version sent to Wildrose shows the government clearly wanted to keep the details of the letter hidden from Albertans.

“Many Albertans are already worried that the NDP government is focused more on ideology instead of outcomes, but today many more feel that the NDP can no longer be trusted to manage the health care system,” Wildrose Leader Brian Jean said. “The NDP should release the full details of this letter to Albertans and explain their actions.”

Wildrose has long argued the centralization, politicization and broken governance model of AHS has led to declining health outcomes for patients.

“Albertans want a health care system that is accountable, transparent, efficient and works in the best interests of all Albertans,” Wildrose Shadow Health Minister Drew Barnes said. “The NDP should release this letter today and stop hiding this information.”
