Cochrane, AB. – On Saturday, December 7th, 2019, Cochrane RCMP municipal traffic and general duty officers conducted several checkstops in and around the Cochrane area as a part of the RCMP’s National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day initiative. Cochrane RCMP estimate that over 200 vehicles were checked. One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving. “I am hopeful that impaired driving is on the decline in our community.” says Acting Cochrane Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Dave Brunner. “However, even one incident of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is too many. We will continue our efforts toward education, prevention, and enforcement for as long as necessary until impaired driving stops.”
