Nanton RCMP Recover Two Stolen Vehicles, 3 people are charged

Nanton, Alberta – On March 24th, 2018 Nanton RCMP responded to a theft of motor vehicle from Mac’s Convenience Store in Nanton. The owner of the vehicle had left the vehicle unlocked and running while they were in the store. Three people had been waiting for this opportunity and one of the suspects entered the unlocked vehicle and drove away, while the other suspects drove away in a Nissan Murano.  Nanton RCMP quickly located the Nissan Murano and two of the suspects. The Nissan Murano had been previously stolen from Calgary.

On March 25th, the third suspect was located and taken into custody, the second stolen vehicle was also located. The local owner was very happy to get his vehicle back so quickly.

“We really need for the public to not make it easy for these criminals,” says Nanton RCMP detachment commander Corporal Travis Ogilvie. “Taking your keys from the ignition, locking your doors and not leaving valuables in your vehicles is the easiest way to prevent this type of crime.”

Charged with 1 count each of Possession of Stolen Property and Theft of Motor Vehicle over $5000 are 34-year-old Christopher Howell Speight, 36-year-old Bradley John Sackett and 35-year-old Lisa Mackenzie Quesnel, all of Calgary. All three accused will be appearing in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on April 25th, 2018.
