Possession of Marijuana Charges

Cochrane, Alberta – On August 7th, 2016, members of the Cochrane RCMP responded to a call of vehicles stunting and doing donuts in the parking lot at the Cochrane Arena.  When members arrived the vehicles were still on scene but had parked.  When members spoke to the occupants of the truck a strong odour of marijuana could be smelled.  The members then entered into a drug investigation and found less than 30 grams of marijuana.  One adult male occupant of the vehicle was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on scene to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on August 30th, 2016.

Cochrane RCMP Charge in Suspicious Death

Stoney Nakoda First Nation, Alberta – A 20 year old Stoney Nakoda First Nation man has been arrested and charged in relation to the death of 21-year-old Kori Wesley**, also of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.  Kori’s body was discovered near the Chiniki Rodeo Grounds on August 7.

Cochrane RCMP with the assistance of both Calgary and Lethbridge Forensic Identification Sections, RCMP Police Dog and the K Division Interview Assistance Team collaborated to identify the suspect.

20 year old Tylen Tray Poucette was arrested without incident on August 7, 2016.   Poucette has been charged with 2nd degree murder and has been remanded in custody, with his next court appearance set for August 16, 2016 in Cochrane Provincial Court.

Police have also obtained an arrest warrant for one young person in relation to this incident.  In accordance with Section 110 (1), of the YCJA, the name of the young person cannot be released, but the public is advised that the young person is not believed to be a danger to others.
