Big Rock grade 3 student Makayla Hinton raised more than $170.00 for Kids Cancer Care at her lemonade stand as part of Okotoks first Lemonade Day on June 13th. Lemonade Day is an interactive national event designed to teach kids the skills they need to be successful in life. With their parents and mentors, kids learn to set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors, provide customer service, save for the future and give back to the community. On June 19th, Makayla also cut off most of her hair and will be donating it to Angel Hair for Kids, a program of A Child’s Voice Foundation™ that provides wigs and hair loss solutions to financially disadvantaged children in Canada who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or treatment.
