Millarville-Stockland 4-H Beef & Sheep Club: Recycling Helps the Environment and the Club

Club Reporter Ethan Beck

These past two months have been busy. Tire recycling and 4-H public speaking. We would like to thank Farm Credit Canada Relationship Manager – Erron Pouteaux for donating $500 to our club. We are planning to use this money to buy show equipment for 4-H on Parade. The money will keep us and our animals looking spiffy. We would also like to thank Danna Ormstrup for teaching us about Public Speaking.  It was great information and I am sure we all took something away that will help us get through it. Tire recycling was fun we received many tires thanks to Millarville Motors and Fire it up in Black Diamond. And thanks to the Campbell family for letting us keep the tires at their house until pickup. It is a great fundraiser and a great way to recycle.

We also had our 4-H public speaking on February 8th at the Millarville Racetrack. There were many good speeches but only a few got to move on for district speaking. For Seniors Rebecca Zutz and Martie Blatz, alternate Kendra Mackenzie and for intermediates Finn Blatz and Clay Jardie and alternate Jackson Collard, and for juniors Clara Blatz and Genevieve Moreau and alternate Justin Watkins. We would also like to thank Barb Castell, Donna Kendall, Suzanne Oel for being our junior judges and Janette Macmillan, Kendra Kelly, David Cranswick for being our intermediate judges and Fran Porter, Andy Porter, Laura James for being our senior judges and Kathleen Arkes, Judy Mackenzie, Ethan Gourley for being our cleaver kids judges. It is nice that you took the time to judge and give us the feedback with positive comments. We will definitely see improvement from year to year. And Thanks for keeping us on time Jackie Rawn and Mary Ellen Beck. Next up will be preparing for our market lambs and the showmanship clinic.
